Discover what to see in Marbella
Walking through the old town of Marbella
The old town of Marbella is one of the most beautiful of all the Costa del Sol, narrow and elongated streets that lead to squares, bars with flowers and small shops with lots of charm. Many tourists do not know the cultural and visual richness of the old town of Marbella, and therefore leave without visiting it.
The centre of the old town is the Plaza de los Naranjos, and it was built during the Christian reconquest of Marbella. Its name comes from the large number of orange trees that are surrounding the square. In addition, in the square, is the Town Hall of 1572 and the oldest church in the city. It also has a fountain of great beauty. At the moment in this square there are many tourist restaurants and live music, to enjoy the shades of the orange trees.
Church of La Encarnación
Just a few minutes from the Plaza de los Naranjos and the city walls is the Iglesia de la Encarnación (Church of the Incarnation). This building was a mosque in the Arab period and after the reconquest it was converted into a church. It is another monument that should not go unnoticed on our trip to Marbella.
Visit the walls of the Arab fortress
Today it is still possible to move to another era thanks to the good conservation of the wall of the Arab fortress that surrounded the city. This fortress, which is said to have been used to defend the city from the Christians, is a relic. The walls date from the 11th century, as do the towers and other remains of the interior. In the summer months concerts and various activities are organized in the city.
Visit the Golden Mile
No one should leave Marbella without going through the world famous Golden Mile. Luxury in its purest form, with the most exclusive shops, luxury hotels and restaurants in this area. To enjoy the pure atmosphere of Marbella.
Visit the mosque of King Abdul Aziz
The first mosque built since the Christian reconquest in the 15th century. The mosque is surrounded by extensive gardens and has a library with more than 30000 volumes.
This park is the green area of Marbella. It’s a park with many trees and tile benches where you can enjoy and rest especially in the hot summer evenings because the soil is very hot.
made of marble. Inside there are usually musicians and the fountain in the center is famous for being dedicated to the Virgen del Rocío and is made with Andalusian tiles.
Walking along the promenade
The promenade of Marbella is one of the most beautiful walks, as it has several very curious points where you can stop to enjoy. Some of them are the Marbella Lighthouse, the marina, and the many restaurants, shops and ice-cream parlours where you can stop to watch the sunset. It is several kilometres long and goes as far as San Pedro de Alcántara, for those adventurous sportsmen.
